Q: If I invest in public relations should I still advertise? A: Public relations is a great communication tool. In fact it's one of the first things you should do to gain brand awareness. The downside of public relations is that you cannot control the message. A publication may use the wrong phone number in the article. They may mention your competitors' products in the same article. If you're not working closely with the media, they might even give your product a negative review. With advertising, you create the message and it runs in the media you choose.
